Democratic Party Historically Racist – September 8, 2017

One thing you can expect from Democrats during any election season is the claim that Republicans are racists. It is as certain as the sunrise or sunset.

In late August, the former Montgomery County Democrat Chairman, Bruce Barnes, wrote a Letter to Editor of The Courier with this very claim. I responded to this baseless charge with the letter that appears below.

To The editor:
Former Democrat Chairman Bruce Barnes’ recent letter is an example of how Democrats and their friends in the media persist in their attempt to label Republicans as racists in spite of history that reveals the Democrat Party is the real home of racism.

Democrats created the Ku Klux Klan following the Civil War. The Klan was praised by the father of the modern-day progressivism, President Woodrow Wilson, who called it “a veritable empire of the South”. The Tuskegee Institute and the Equal Justice Initiative reported over 3,500 lynching of black Republicans between 1882 and 1968, but Democrats in the U.S. Senate blocked any laws prohibiting this cruelty. Democrats created the Jim Crow and Poll Tax laws that discriminated against African Americans. The infamous Dred Scott decision by the U. S. Supreme Court that denied slaves the right to become citizens was supported by seven Democrat Justices but opposed by the two Republican Justices.

Republicans in the U. S. Congress authored and supported the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments to the U. S. Constitution. Democrats opposed all three. The 13th Amendment banned slavery, the 14th Amendment guaranteed due process of law to all Americans and the 15th Amendment guaranteed the right to vote to for all American citizens. In Texas, the Democrat Party denied African Americans the right to vote in their Primary elections until forced to do so by the U. S. Supreme when it ruled in 1948 this action was unconstitutional. Texas Democrats had declared they were a “white only club”.

A recent Rasmussen poll of “likely voters” revealed 72 percent believe most politicians who raise racial issues do so to “get elected”.

The Republican Party, founded in 1854 by those opposed to slavery, will remain the Party of Lincoln and the conservative Party of the rights of free speech and assembly, right to bear arms, free enterprise, religious liberty, right to life, strong law enforcement, a strong military, strict border control, smaller government and fair taxation. The Democrat Party of John F. Kennedy, has become the liberal-socialist leaning Party of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and George Soros which condones violent protests and anarchy, opposition to free speech, restriction of assembly and religious liberty, promotion of gun control, a weak military, less law enforcement, higher taxes, bigger government and open borders.
